Zooey Deschanel Finalizes Divorce

The New Girl star, Zooey Deschanel, is finally breaking free from her ex-husband. On Wednesday, December 12th, the sitcom star filed for divorce from former husband, the front man for the famous band Death Cab for Cutie. Ben Gibbard and Zooey have kept quiet about their break-up, trying to stay out of the magazines with their story. The young actress cited irreconcilable difference in her divorce papers. In California, this is a legitimate reason to end a marriage. The spouses simply have to declare that their marriage is beyond mending and it can be terminated in court.

The celebrity couple will be handling their case in the Los Angeles Superior Court. Shockingly, only a few months before the separation Gibbard was seen gushing about his wife in New York magazine. What happened to change his wife’s mind about him so suddenly has not been revealed. Zooey Deschanel has already moved on with Jamie Linden, a screenwriter who is responsible for films like 10 Years, Dear John, and We Are Marshall.

Because the star has not disclosed much information about her divorce, she has not yet explained what the couple’s settlements will be regarding property division, spousal support and more. They have no children together. If you are trapped in a difficult marriage, you may want to follow suit and file for divorce. While divorce may seem intimidating, it is not impossible.
